19 Good Things in 2019

Well, as another year is coming quickly to a close, it’s always an opportunity to look back over the year that was. Too often, our looks back include a lot of things we regretted, or wished we would have done.

I want to do something different this year. I want, at the end of 2019, to focus on 19 good things. Things that made me happy. Things I learned from. Things that made me smile, or added to my resilience. In no particular order, here they are, my top good things from 2019:

  1. Trips to wine country with one of my dearest friends. We took three trips over 2019, and every one had something about it that was charming and special
  2. Rising above a heartbreak that I thought was going to wreck me. And being stronger for it
  3. Standing up for what I wanted. And being okay with letting something go when it was no longer a fit as a result
  4. Getting a new job that has taught me immeasurable lessons along the way
  5. Spending time with friends, laughing, and enjoying their company
  6. Seeing my amazing nephews for the first time earlier this year, and watching their sweet sister grow up
  7. Being disappointed, but okay with, not running another marathon in 2019. I listened to my body instead of pushing to overcome injury and illness faster than my body would allow
  8. Learning that communication is one thing, but to truly communicate, you need to understand someone else
  9. Discovering that I am the only one who can make me happy
  10. Putting my skill set in social media and digital marketing to use to help a friend. And getting excited about the challenge
  11. Knowing that pushing back doesn’t make me aggressive. It makes me assertive
  12. Seeing concerts and live shows that made me happy, and deciding that getting tickets to Hamilton was worth the little pinch in the pocketbook
  13. Getting further ahead on my plans to buy a winery. It may end up being sooner than I thought…
  14. Cheering on and cheering up friends who needed a shoulder, and accepting that sometimes, I need a shoulder too
  15. Spending more time writing. I love it, and question why I didn’t stick with it
  16. Trying new things – saying yes to new experiences because I could, and because I started looking at things through the best case vs the worst case scenario
  17. Spending time with my children – laughing with them, and being in awe daily of how lucky I am to have them
  18. Getting clear on my own personal and professional goals. And taking steps to reach them
  19. Having food on the table, a roof over my head, and enough left over to make sure I can do for others who are less fortunate

What were the things at the top of your list this year? Anything that stands out for you? Share with me – I love hear about the good things happening in others’ lives!
